We have a rather loose definition of "folk music": any song more than 20 years old. To get a feeling for the type of music the band likes to play, please see our Song List.

Some MP3s from our performance at 2009 Farmfest: Peaceful Easy Feeling; Blue Bayou; Hills of Connemara; Can't Help But Wonder Where I've Gone; and, Shenandoah.

Loose Strings currently has 5 regular members. Instruments include mountain dulcimer, mandolin, six string guitar, twelve string guitar, penny whistle, harmonica, Irish drum, and, a fun collection of rhythm instruments which are sometimes played by audience members. Occasionally guest singers and players will accompany the band.

We practice on Thursdays and are usually available for Thursday evening performances. With enough notice, we can accommodate weekend performance requests. Most of our performances have been for private parties and local festivals, although we will consider other requests.
